We're going to try to post something once a week or so. It'll be mainly a recap of the training sessions to begin with. We'll see where the Lord leads afterwards.
Willing to Change?
How many narcissists does it take to change a light bulb?
One. He holds the bulb while the world revolves around him.
How many Californians does it take to change a lightbulb?
10--One to change the bulb and 9 others to share the experience.
How many Mafia hitmen does it take to change a lightbulb?
Three. One to screw it in, one to watch, and one to shoot the witness.
How many Baptists does it take to change a lightbulb?
At least 15. One to change the light bulb, and three committees to approve the change and decide who brings the potato salad and fried chicken.
How many therapists does it take to change a light bulb?
One, but the light bulb has really got to want to change.
This is where we find ourselves. When God calls us to a new job – of new ways to do his work, we must be willing to change. And as part of this new Force Of 70 we’re each going to change. We’re all going to become, in some form, evangelists.
How's the becoming coming?
You have What it Takes
As a reminder, here are some of the things that we decided in the first training session that are required to be an evangelist:
Salvation
Knowledge
Relationships with those who are not yet believers
Willingness
Holy Spirit
You could probably add a few others, but this list is actually pretty complete. Isn't it striking, although some people have a gift for it, each of us, as Christians, already possesses the raw materials to share our faith!
We hope that your team is off to a good start. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help. Next we'll review in some detail the Holy Spirit's role in evangelism.
But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect - 1 Peter 3:15 (New International Version)
